Forest Management and Productive Function

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Forestry originated as a science under the need to manage forests for timber production in sustainable way. Since then, sustainability has been broadened include variety of values and services recognised important human well-being, while at maintaining relevant productive function. Hence, silviculture exists humankind not their continued existence. Sustainability is obtained by adopting correct silvicultural practices adjusting planning view most suitable management able ensure goals, example, carbon balance climate warming scenarios. National forest inventories provide reliable information that needed effective policies. This chapter shows area estimates on some variables production, such accessibility, presence roads or tracks, terrain roughness availability wood supply (Sect. 8.2). Silviculture are actualised utilisation modes, which also related logging modes. Section 8.3 statistics these well those growing stock biomass annually removed from forest. 8.4 regulations influence aspects forests. The type may vary consistently due overlapping authorities protecting Italy, so different levels was emphasised.

Species Richness and Productive Forest Management 1

There are many reasons to preserve the biological diversity of the earth, and perhaps the most compelling is the insurance that it provides for the uncertain times ahead. The responsibility for maintaining this biodiversity falls particularly heavily on the custodians of the tropical forests, where species richness is highest. How can these forests provide for the immediate needs of local inhab...

Market Adaptive Control Function Optimization in Continuous Cover Forest Management

Economically optimal management of a continuous cover forest is considered here. Initially, there is a large number of trees of different sizes and the forest may contain several species. We want to optimize the harvest decisions over time, using continuous cover forestry, which is denoted by CCF. We maximize our objective function, the expected present value, with consideration of stochastic p...

KEYNOTE ADDRESSES Forest Products and the Environment: A Productive Symbiosis

Symbiosis can be defined as a mutually beneficial relationship. Can there be a symbiotic relationship between forest products and the environment? If there is symbiosis of forest products and the environment, human beings are central to the process. Historically forests have always played a significant role in the human environment. At one end of the relationship, forests help provide the oxyge...
